The instant change in the demon lord astounded Zoe. She wondered what had just occurred when she lost sight of him, unable to pin-point what caused it or how it happened. The minute he spoke when he finally returned after several minutes, she could only stare with a grim look. She was clearly not pleased with the situation. It wasn’t that she was begging for more torture and whatnot, but she felt insulted, hurt and screamed at for no reason. All she did was to provide help. It was the least she could do, right?
And as cause for this, she had no desire to say anything to him but to rest. The usual annoyance slash anger she often felt from the demon lord’s usual comments, did not emerge. It felt stale and unburned. In fact, she felt liberated from this and ushered the demon she was riding on to take her back to the room. Before they could even enter the castle, she noticed the guards watching her. They seemed bewildered and unsure of what to say or do.
For all she cared, she felt none. “Do what you want. You’re on your own.” She didn’t care anymore. What she seriously needed was a good rest for the next day or two. After that, perhaps she’ll just do as she pleased. At some point, she will have to figure out a way to get herself out of the castle. She now decided it wasn’t for her and it was a grave mistake her mother made.
Moving up the steps on the demon’s back, she watched as it stopped, allowing her to climb down. The minute her feet made contact with the ground, she almost dropped to the ground, only to clutch tightly on the demon’s unusual horn off its shoulder blade. It used its strength, pulling her back on her feet and allowed her to use him as her support, simply following her to her room.
Now finally in her bed chamber, she slid off the demon’s shoulder blade horn and right onto the bed only to snuggle in comfortably. Having turned on her side, she watched as it moved around in circle after shutting the door close, and lied down on the floor with its ears perked forward, eyes set on her, merely watching. “Thank you.” But it didn’t stop there. Suddenly, it moved and edged close to her, only to touch its nose against her wrist, causing the silver cuffs to appear.
It seemed wise in its own rights, using its front tentacle to push certain buttons until a book emerged into sight. “What is this?” Zoe stared at the oversized book, flipping it over and found the title of it. It was a history and culture book of the current era she was in. Quirking an eyebrow, “well, I suppose I can read while I rest, no?” The tail of the demon thumped against the ground, signaling approval. With a quieted laugh, she flipped it open to begin reading.
