The second I’m sorry did not work.
The demon lord had proven to be difficult on forgiving her. Zoe supposed that she deserved it; after all, she wounded him in some way. Now with a clear mind, free of stress, she realized her mistake and what she had been behaving like. Since the start, she was not civilized to her liking, only spitting fire at every chance she got given due to her unparalleled stress she endured, along with bouts of teasing she received from the demon lord. She should have seen this all along, feeling pangs of guilt for allowing her temper to override her thoughts and feelings.
She recalled that upon her first meeting with him, she thought him cold-blooded and autocrat who had no consideration for others. It clearly wasn’t the case. He had a ward of his own that he takes care of, a mere human girl who adores him. He does worries for the pregnant women despite his callous talk. He even took her in when he could have easily sent her away.
“I sent myself. Who else?” She didn’t need his little sibling’s order to apologize to him. She only asked what she needed to do and Inuyasha was not quite helpful in that manner. Nevertheless, she knew that an apology was due and what she said and did was wrong. “I allowed my temper to cloud my judgment. I’ve been through a lot for one day.”
He was cold to her. She should have expected that. “I’m sorry.” She repeated again, “what is it that I can do to ask for your forgiveness?” Slowly, a pleading look appeared on her face until an idea popped up. “Want me to trip again?” At the very least, he could tease her again. Anything but the cold silence from him would do.
She raised both hands, wiggling her fingers, “massage your back?” She was trying to figure out ways to make him feel better. It only took her a second before entering the room did she realized that she didn’t like the idea of having him hurt. “If you want to punch me, that’s fine either.” If he was going to take that last suggestion, she might as well endure it. She is a warrior after all, even if it’s going to be hurtful afterward.

Sesshoumaru sat there coldly looking at her, as she spoke and said her apologies again, and then explained herself. He watched her as she spoke, her explanation was credible enough..She been set here by force, that could stress someone. But did that mean she had been taking it out on him? it wasn't worth thinking about...
Really the more she spoke the weirder her conversation got. *Did she truly think he was going to say yes to any of those?!
" You tripping on purpose serves for nothing. I do not require a massage...My muscles are fine; And no, I do not go around punching women. If I had wanted to injure you I would have done so." he said watching her, he still had the cold tone and expression.
"Tell me... why this need to have me forgive you? I did not think my opinion mattered to you before." He asked merely out of curiosity. But he did watch her, his eyes showing a bit less cold than before.

The instant he spurned her suggestions, she sulked like a dejected puppy. What else could she do to gain his forgiveness? She had known all along that he would not forgive easily. It was obvious in the way he behaved and spoke. Yet, it wasn’t enough for her to just give up and move along then hope for the best that he would somehow let it go. He isn’t going to let go of it. He wasn’t that type of man.
All in all, she stared at the table before her, contemplating on her next tactic. Without raising her head, her gaze rested on the demon lord when he inquired about her desperate need to ask for his forgiveness. “Before, it didn’t,” she stated honestly, “I was too fired up and overwhelmed with anger enough to strike it out on anyone. You shouldn’t have to deal with it.” She laughed anxiously not out of fear, but humiliation, “whenever I get into a fight with mother, I get like this. It has always been that way.”
She released a sigh until she stopped short, spotting a small tress of hair out the corner of her eye. She realized that her hair was let loose the minute she left her room earlier. Luckily, she wore the head band on her wrist and flicked it out and begun tying her wavy hair into a braid over her shoulder, “father contacted me a while ago. He explained that it was never out of punishment and his decision to have me travel so that I can gain experience and give myself and mother some peace for ourselves for a while.” Satisfied with the way her hair is braided as neatly as possibly she could, she appeared thoughtful now, “mother must’ve heard his decision at some time and send me off to make it look like it’s a punishment.” Suddenly, her lips curled into a grin, “and must’ve done it in anger. After all, I inherited it from her and should know that first hand.” A puzzled look appeared, “unless…she did it altogether with some careful planning..?” Yes, it is indeed that her own mother is a mystery as well, often setting others into bouts of confusion; evens her own daughter. She shook head, unwilling to allow herself to get even more confused by her mother’s behavior.
Centering her attention on him, she shot him a genuine smile for the first time, “I say things I don’t mean when I’m angry.” Pulling both hands to the middle of her back, she laced her fingers as she surveyed the room, realizing where she is located, “whoever marr—ah, mates you, will surely be lucky. Despite how your room looks, but the way you care for your lands said it all. So your future mate will obviously be in good hands.” It was rather weird for her to change the term to mate instead of wife or whatnot. How strange this era is.
What’s even more surprising is now that she realized how messy the room looked. Even a lord as himself who almost looked perfect in every way can have such imperfection. She supposed that whatever room one is most comfortable in can become untidy, a direct sign of comforts.

Did she just really sit there and sulk? She did... She's sulking... In my office... Right in front of me. Sesshoumaru was confused more than anything. The behavior was now resembling Kagome. Could they be from the same time? It wasn't impossible he supposed... He would have to find out. If she was from a different time that here then it would explain a lot. He had thought makai where from the same era, but he might have been wrong.
"On that we agree, I had no reason to deal with your anger. At least I could have been forewarned. It would have helped." Sesshoumaru said getting less cold, but still not getting as he had been before. "At least be thankful your father is alive. I only have my mother to deal with, and I'd rather not deal with her as it is." He said looking a bit bored, but that was just another mask.
He kept listening to her and raised an eyebrow when she spoke. She's trying to flatter me...?! Amusing... I've seen my servants go to this length to try and win me back, but he never thought he'd see it from a Lady like Zoe.
"Do you know it is a reason to be executed if a male inu harms his mate? For what ever reason. The punishment is death. The punishment is disembowelment and death if one harms her while she's pupping. So it i a good reason for us to be good towards them. But i do not know where you're getting such good thoughts about me" He said looking to her getting a mild ghost of a smirk. "Certainly the main reason i don't wish for a mate is because of all the troubles i know they come with." He said sitting back in his chair.
"My father died for his human mate. I do not plan on making his mistakes." Sesshoumaru said looking towards the mural again. The mural alone showed just how great and powerful his father had been.

Ah, it is no wonder he lacks interest for courtship or the need of heir.
It both puzzled and made sense to Zoe. He apparently had a dislike for human, save for his human ward and is strongly against acquiring a mate (as he puts it) just because of the troubles it comes with. Is it simply because of his father’s mistake to take up a human woman and to die just from that? What exactly happened there? It is considered a mistake? The poor zasshu fathomed curiously, though it puzzled her greatly. Perhaps a mistake is a sign of weakness, which he apparently and effortlessly revealed none.
Examining the murals which the demon lord fixed his gaze on, Zoe noticed the figure of a large dog which she supposed was his father. The way the image depicts in style with strokes of emphasizes, it was clear that this was one formidable youkai. Something occurred to her; did Sesshoumaru bore grudges for having his father chosen a human woman when he already had a current mate, his own mother whom he apparently revealed a strong aversion. Tempted to ask though she chose not to and decided to wait when the time strikes. After all, this is just her first day in the castle. It would be too much for the castle-owner to spill the beans to guests who just arrived. Yet, she is not surprised to hear the consequences of harming a pregnant woman or a woman at all. Back home, there were same consequences varied by the degree of crimes.
Well, there is always a soul mate out there. He just hadn’t found one yet. Whether he likes it or not, he’ll definitely find her in the future.
“No relationship is perfect,” she pointed lightly, “otherwise, it’s just superficial and fake.” Straightening her back, she crossed arms over her chest casually, “I believe that when you have a relationship, you will feel alive and not alone.” Slowly a genuine smile materialized, “I may have not been in a relationship, but I should know. I always watch, and listen. Plus, I have the model relationship of both my parents.”
Edging close to the murals to inspect the art at close range, she laced fingers behind her back once more, “you only have to court to see what its like. It’s not like you’re committed to her all the way. Give it a try.”

“For one who has never been in a relationship you speak very highly of it. Far be it for me to ruin your dreams but I must tell you, I have not seen many of the type you speak.” Sesshoumaru said sitting back in his chair still, and watching her as he had done all day. Her reactions to his house till puzzled him. Was it really and truly that interesting to her? It must be if she is taken to studying so much.
“That is a mural of my father. Painted during the time that my mother was pregnant with me. It is said he traveled to China everyday for her because she wished to eat only beasts from there.” Sesshoumaru said calmly looking at it.
“The others around the castle are of the other Lords of the past.” He explained. “I am assuming they do not have many like this in your time….Or….perhaps they are all gone?” He asked calmly watching her for a reaction. He wondered if she’d pick up his question as a trick. He wanted to know if her place was just a ‘different place’ or a ‘different time’ but he wasn’t about to ask out loud. He seldom did that.
He had found out about Kagome’s origins easily, but only because she and his ‘little’ brother where easily fooled and easy to get talking. He knew and could tell that Zoe would not be that gullible. No, this one would be hard. Perhaps that was why he was having so much trouble with her. It would not do for him to get ‘infatuated’ with her. It would be idiotic. He didn’t need trouble. He was not going to turn out like his father, to fall for the first pretty face and intriguing woman that came by. No…! He had surpassed his father in every way, he could surpass him in this too.

Standing directly in front of the murals, the zasshu was gaining a rapid interest in the arts of the current era she wounded up. She wondered if the murals truly depict how the former youkais looked until she reasoned. The people did not quite perfect the art of realism to portrait the exact image of their target. That would have to occur several hundred years later. She placidly wished she could have seen the realistic image of demon lord’s father. It is only out of pure curiosity.
When the demon lord explained the history behind the art, she nodded with keen interest, absorbing what she learned until she stopped short at the idea of his own mother demanding for animals from far away lands. He has such a demanding father? The very reason why his own father left her to only wound up in the arms of a human woman? Maybe this human woman was a gentle soul who was more understanding of the demon lord’s father.
And when am I going to start referring him by his real name?
Mildly annoyed by her own thought processes, she surveyed the papers she picked up. There were stack of scrolls lying in disarray over the poor mini armor, standing directly under the murals. Flipping a single scroll open, she did not read but scrutinized how it was made in artistic style. The more she studied, the more she realized just how different the arts and architectural style were from her own. She thought them exotic and intriguing. These styles were ethereal in their own right, beckoned with wealth of history and meanings.
She hadn’t answered to the demon lord’s inquiry as quickly as one would have expected. Closing the scroll to set it down, she picked up another with a wry smirk, shooting a glance over her shoulder at him. Opening the scroll she picked up, she responded "You’re that curious?” It became clear to her. Her mother hadn’t written out the detail answers to him; so he was clueless about her as just as she was, though she was rapidly learning from watching and listening. Sure, mistakes are bound to occur, and will not be foolhardy enough to ignore but learn from it.
The more she thought about it, the more she realized she welcomed the cultural inclination into her outfit. If she had worn what she wore straight from the space transporter, it would have exposed the answers vividly. She wondered if the people and youkais of this era were smart enough to differ who is not of this era and whatnot.
Even though I tweaked my clothes to my taste, I still managed to keep a low key…
It was a habit. The inclination need to protect herself and her kind from any possible danger, even the demon lord himself despite her mother’s decision to trust her own daughter to him. Then again, and so far, he hadn’t tried to manipulate or annihilate her at first chance.
“I’ll give you answer in due time. After all, this is still the first day.”

“It is merely a question. I like to know where the demon in my castle are from, it lets me know what to expect from them.” Sesshoumaru explained calmly and with his normal stoicness, hopefully that answer would get her out of the ‘he’s curious’ thought process. He didn’t mind being curious, but others didn’t have to know just how he was. Specially not one like Zoe.
He had been watching her more, the way she looked at the scrolls, and the murals. With the wonder of Rin when she had first seen them.
“You know you behave more like my brother’s mate than a demoness. Are you sure you makai are demons?” He asked with a raised eyebrow at her. Just as he was finished asking that there was a knock at his door. He looked to it frowning bit silently when he smelled it was one of his guard.
“Come..” He called out with the colder lord voice again.
The guard came in, bowed and pushed in a man held by shackles in both hands and feet. “My lord we caught the one that tried to poison your feeding rabbits. What do you wish his punishment to be my lord?” He said holding the man tightly.
Sesshoumaru’s expression grew as cold as death watching this man. He was silent for a while, the whole time he was looking at the man.
“Make him speak. I want to know who ordered it, then kill him. If he speaks do it painlessly. If not you know the rest.” Sesshoumaru said without an ounce of mercy in his voice or expression. “Jaken is checking out the surviving rabbits correct?” Sesshoumaru asked faking calm now. In truth this was the only real thing he was afraid off, something as idiotic and tiny as this could kill him in one night and there was nothing anyone had found to allow him to get rid of it.
“Yes, my lord. He’s been at it all morning.” The guard said and after Sesshoumaru nodded and motioned that he could leave, he did so taking the man down to the dungeons to proceed with the lord’s order.
Back in the office, Sesshoumaru still had the thinking expression and the unhappy, slight fear one as well, but that one was harder to see. Much harder. He sat in his desk tapping his claws on the desk, and then finally looked at Zoe again, her being in the room was one of the main reasons he had controlled himself more.

The total disarray of the office almost tempted Zoe into clean-up. How could this particular demon lord still find scrolls he needed or wanted when it was everywhere, lying at possible niches of the room? Was it really that easy to know where it is despite the obvious mess? “That’s perfectly understandable. I assure you that I won’t bring harm.” Setting the scroll down, she analyzed the mess, trying to figure out as whether she should help or not.
In the end, the answer would have been a not. He wouldn’t have appreciated it, much less when it came from a complete stranger. “I do? What is she like?” She inquired lightly, curious of what kind of wife she was for having the demon lord’s half-sibling as husband. Was she used to his vulgar way of talk? Considering the fact that he’s a hanyou, just what type of woman this said-mate was. Is she a hanyou as well? Normally, people congregate based on common grounds.
The sound of knocking caught Zoe’s attention, though she long since knew who was coming closer. Not that she knew who it was exactly, but the simple fact that someone was coming much, much closer to the office. It took her a moment to realize that during her time in the office, no one walked past the office until now. Eying the man, she arched an eyebrow noticing something else about him. There was the temptation, called on by her scythe. Yet, she hadn’t done a thing except to watch the shackled man, guard and as well as the demon lord.
Well, he’ll be getting his punishment anyways.
“You okay?” She hadn’t the chance to sit down, much due to the mess found all over the office. Even the chairs were covered in scrolls as well. She was staring at the tapping claws with both hands calmly clasped together in front of her, “are rabbits that special to you?”
She recalled how the rabbit stews were made. The cooks seemed to be very précised and careful with the way they moved and touched that surrounded them. She knew it was a serious case of precaution, but for what? Is there something wrong with the demon lord that he wouldn’t let others know? Sitting there, with claws tapping on the table seemed to signify a clue to her. “Is there something wrong with your body?”

Sesshoumaru sat there thinking about things over and over. He wanted to go down there himself and deal with the traitorous bastard. But he knew he couldn't. The guards would suspect more he went that far to take care of what was for every one else a very unassuming problem, even if for him that wasn't the case. He looked to Zoe when she asked those questions. His look one mixed with mild surprise that she actually had the guts to ask him that, and also annoyance that she was figuring things out this quickly. Just from seeing things so far.
The main problem for him now was... Would she be able to pick up when he lied? Should he just tell her the truth? No, he couldn't. She wasn't trustworthy enough in his mind yet. What was to stop her from using it against him later. It was his worst nightmare this, to die from a simple stomachache. That was even more pathetic than his father's death.
"I am very explicit with what I like eating." He said in a mix of truth and lie. "The rabbits I eat are from the very same line that I was feed from as a child. I eat those and nothing else." Sesshoumaru said pretending it was just pickiness and nothing else.
"And I hope you do realize that as a DaiYoukai lord my body is perfect. If it would have been anyone else I would take offense to the mere mentioning of it. But since it is you I will let it pass." He said looking to her, the slight fear was still there in the back of his look.
"but you did raise a curious question. Do your people get problems with their bodies? You seemed to jump to that very quickly." He asked noe very curios but also hoping she'd just forget about looking for what his problem was.

The mere thought of eating the same, single meal since the day of birth was enough for Zoe to stare at him in mild surprise. Could anyone truly eat a meal for over a hundred years or so? Not that she could pin-point his actual age, she simply guessed it since he is now a lord, rather than some simple prince who just begun training as some overseer of his lands. This particular one knew what he was doing or should be doing, minus for that recent incident of exposing himself rather…indecently.
He only eats the rabbit stews and nothing else?
Even the most, serious vegetarian would try a taste of some meat at some point in their life. It was the simple matter of the way he spoke did not convince her as he would have possibly liked. Annoyingly, she somehow recalled the image she witnessed from that recent, outlandish behavior from him. Why now of all this? Knowing if she stared at him too long, she would have suffered a case of blushing maiden. Instead, she casually looked about, spotting a map on the floor. Arching an eyebrow, she picked up the map and wondered if it was truly accurate for this time frame. “I find that hard to believe,” she stated regarding his eating habit since the day he was born.
A Daiyoukai? So, he is one of the top demons then.
Fighting to keep the curve of her lip from grinning, she analyzed the map curiously, though at the same time she listened to him. She was still not convinced. Even a daiyoukai, a perfect demon, would have at least one weakness in one way or another. Even her own father had a weakness and he would keep it hidden as tightly as he could. So, she could understand why this demon lord would be offended. This shows that he does have a weakness and it must be related to rabbit stew.
And since it’s me? Does that mean I’m something special now?
“Naturally, sempai.” Folding the map carefully, she set it aside on its proper place, the table which where the demon lord sat himself by. “Any living beings is bound to have some sort of conflict with their bodies, whether it be humans, demons or beasts. But, we’ve developed a way to counterattack those issues. Unfortunately, there are still some issues that have not been resolved. That’s why we have people who do research to fix those problems.”
“Out of respect, I won’t ask questions in regard to your issue.” It was obviously clear that she wasn’t convinced. She was not about to be pushed into another topic, but understanding the need to keep a certain weakness hidden, she decided to let it slide.

" I am what I am Lady Zoe. I have no issues or problems with my body. There is nothing for you to respect or regard." Sesshoumaru said calmly looking at her. On the outside he was still the cold looking Lord still. On the inside however, he was starting to become mildly worried that she would figure things out. He could see the wheels in her mind working as she looked around.
"Tell me Lady Zoe... What is it that you keep finding so interesting in my scrolls? Or is it that you find it difficult to keep your eyes on me? Some one would start to get self conscious around you." Sesshoumaru said looking to her, his warm amber eyes almost smirking at her with the look he gave her.
"Do you find me that frightening to look at, or is it the opposite." Sesshoumaru asked wanting to get her mind away from 'his' problem. This would be a surefire way. "You were not supposed to be in the halls to see me after all. " He said just bluntly and truthfully. His eyes watching her expression curiously.

Bingo.
The poor zasshu swallowed a gulp, it felt as if a rock wedged inside her throat. It took her a moment of second to generate thoughts. Just why did that imprudent lord have to remind her of what she previous thought of and discarded with utmost efforts? Thanks to him, she recalled such incident. “I’ve been told that. Why do you think I scare men off?” Her eyes narrowed, “because I analyze them too much.”
Struggling to keep a straight and calm face, she straightened her back, both hands positioned on her hips. So, the demon lord is quick to notice things as well. Why else would he be a daiyoukai? Perhaps this is the reason why her mother sent her to him. Things are going to be easy as she initially thought. “It’s your fault. You were supposed to do that in your room.” She snapped, now a slight hint of annoyance kicking in. She wasn’t annoyed with him, but rather, herself. How could a man who was half-naked just moments ago, trouble her? He was the same as other men. For the sake of it, she had seen men in their Speedos! Now, that would have been considered high-form of indecency in this era. Everything was traditional with strict rules of the society imposed on its members. She thought that the demon lord would be the same way, extremely traditional until that incident told her otherwise.
She was not about to blush right there and here. Not when the demon lord is watching her with such keen interest. “Lucky me, I did not swoon at the sight of you. If it had been other ladies, no doubt, they would.” Pulling a finger at him, she shook her finger like a teacher nagging its student, “it is a man’s duty to not overwhelm a meek lady.”

She's really saying it?!She is braver than I thought, or is she just saying it because she knows i would not believe it if she tried to hide it. That could be a safe assumption.
Sesshoumaru gave her a ghost of a smirk as she spoke and said all that. He could tell she was trying very hard to not blush. That just made all this even sweeter.
"Then look at it this way, you are lucky it did not go further down the layers of my clothing. I would have no problem walking to my chambers without clothing, but I certainly was not going to walk around smelling like tea, with wet, stained clothing; and I know you are no meek lady." He said looking to her, he was laughing so hard in his mind with her now. this was all very amusing.
"Females can sometimes be very confusing Lady Zoe.If you 'admired' what you saw, why go through so much trouble to hide it? You might chase other men away but if this 'Sesshoumaru' was truly interested I can guarantee you, I would get you." Sesshoumaru said looking to her, giving her a look with his perfect amber eyes that was so sexy and killer that it would be hard for any woman to say anything while looking at him.

Good grief! This man has no shame! What is going on in his head?!
Now instantly frozen in her position, she stared at the demon lord in pure disbelief. Does he do this with everyone he meets? If so, she felt pity for those who suffered his shameless acts. Even her own father would find this quite mortifying! Worst yet, her mother would have suffered a high-degree of anger and just explode into ransack of harsh critiques, enough to put the most blatant monster to shame. And she was not like her mother; which she sorely wished she was for this exact moment. Her mother would have not blushed at a man’s indecency.
And here she was, she almost blushed and with utmost efforts, she tried to think something hilarious in her mind to cover up that exposed figure of his, only clad in underpants. It wasn’t working and it isn’t helping the fact that he was goading and teasing her now. That is, until he blatantly pointed he could get her if he wished. A perfect way to jumpstart her anger, that is, until it died when she noticed the look on his face.
Inuyasha wasn’t kidding around?
By some sheer miracle, she managed to pull herself together and shot him a glare, “yeah right, as if I’d give in.” Dropping both hands to her side with only one hand raised to point at the door, “if you’re looking for a mate, you might as well go find one somewhere else because this lady is not going to fall into your trap, mister.” Suddenly an idea sparked and she clapped both hands with glee, “there are maids here who have an interest in you!” She was struggling to much such treacherous topic away, especially when he gave her that look. She almost felt as if she about to fall into his trap. She didn’t think she could fall for that look the second time. Who knows what she would do next?
