A good scratch or a massage for any dog was a surefire way to get them relaxed. It was working on the demon lord, spotting him leaning comfortably against her massaging hand. How hard it was for Zoe to keep herself from grinning, although it was clear that she enjoyed and thrived in this little victory. It didn’t have to be the demon lord rendering her senseless and mute; she could do it to him instead.
Somehow, along the way, she managed to free her other hand and reached the other ear to massage as well. She couldn’t see the tail wagging, having being forced close to him and right in front of him as well. Watching the expression on his face, she knew she had him under her fingers, little by little. “Maybe you should.” She purred seductively, deciding to play the game a little bit dangerously.
The mere sight of a large man leaning against her touch was thrilling enough, prompting Zoe to push the button a bit further. Continuing the massage behind both his ears with her hands, she decidedly pressed herself closer to him. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she was pleased to acknowledge that she managed to calm him after having witnessed the anxious side of him. She realized how much it unnerved her so; seeing a demon lord like him, becoming nervous and worried for the condition of these rabbits; because it was the only sole meal he could eat, otherwise he could starve to death.
Starvation for demons was something they could deal with; but for many years to come? No, it was a pure, slow death for any immortal creatures. Yet, her mind couldn’t quite focus on what occurred just previously. The feel of him being close to her was intoxicating enough. “Well, you do like it, no?”

Do I like it? Do I? What a question... Perhaps I do. Is that a bad thing? My father would say 'no'. I believe my mother would say 'yes'. How is it that once again I am at a loss as to what to think. This woman posses a power over me. It should not be this way. Sesshoumaru thought to himself, as he subconsciously just kept on leaning towards her hand. The other hand nearly did him in. But his cheer control kept him standing.
"It would be silly for me to say I do not, when it is obvious I do. The question is why do I?" Sesshoumaru said looking to her. His hand moved around her waist and pulled her more to him. "What is it about you?" Sesshoumaru said looking to her, studying her. She was pressing closer to his body. It was getting very enjoyable now. While he was nowhere near wanting or ready to fully mate with anyone, he was surprised to find himself even thinking about the idea. He hadn't even done that before, save for the fact that some females reminded him of why he didn't want to be mated.
"But perhaps you are thinking the same about me." He said with a small ghost of a smirk on his handsome lips as he raised his other hand and caressed her face. "You are savoring this as I am. Should I be as honored as you should be? I take it not many have gotten these attentions from you." Sesshoumaru said not realizing that he truly did now want to know what her background with love interests truly was. She had mentioned something about it before. Sesshoumaru knew she was lying though, either that or exaggerating. Women did it all the time after all.
Of course while he was thoroughly almost lost in the rapture of all this, his logic had to remind him of where they where and what she was doing.
"Do I need to remind you that certain body parts are off limits before you get anymore ideas for those hands?!" Sesshoumaru said with that ghost of a smirk as he looked to her, his expression a mix of mischievousness, deadliness, and innocence. Which was really hard to do for anyone else but for him it was almost second nature.

Oh dear. Sesshoumaru was leaning further and further toward her the minute she used her other hand to massage his other ear. How victorious Zoe felt, to acknowledge that her simple touches would have him reeling for more. What was even more confounding was that the demon lord admitted it without any shame, yet he questioned it. He actually questioned why he should feel this way or how it could be.
Of course, a man like him, should inquire, especially when he never experienced this before.
“Because it’s me, Sesshoumaru.” She answered, ignoring the butterflies’ sensation she felt in her stomach the minute those big hand gripped her waist, drawing her closer, cutting off the gap between the two of them. A slight protest kicked into her mind, reeling her back, prohibiting her from answering that she, indeed, liked what went on between the two of them. The minute he questioned as whether or not other guys received this much attention from her, she instantly thought of Jared; her life-long friend. Outrageously, a slight blush appeared on her cheeks, recalling how many wondered if she and Jared were lovers, best friends, siblings or whatnot. Many could see the bond they shared which often confused and confounded many. “Hmm…” She shrugged casually, “just only one person. His name is Jared.” The mere mention of that man’s name brought a genuine smile to her face; it was clear that she felt close to him.
She blinked, suddenly recalling another person which, she quite frankly, did not want to remember. That particular man was outrageous and strangely enough, intriguing. Yet, even his name, did not ring a bell to her. When Sesshoumaru spoke, she looked up with an arched eyebrow, “…….maybe it was a bad idea that you said it.” She stopped massaging behind his ears, trailing those hands down his neck and chest. The look on his face almost caught her off guard, though she only returned with a devious grin of her own.
Really, this man is innocent in his own right.

Why was it that she said things as if she thought they where obvious. They where not. They truly where not. At least not to Sesshoumaru. He was completely baffled. The 'because it's me' thing didn't help either. It didn't tell him a thing. Why should it be like this just because it's her?! Other women tried to do this, they never got anywhere. Most of them where dead now. Only one that had gotten a bit close was Kagura, and even then it was more respect than anything else. That she had the bad luck of being one of Naraku's 'things' but showed she had bravery and spirit. It at least gained Sesshoumaru's respect.
Of course her reaction to his other question made him take a few steps back. His hands left her and his look was now one of uncertainty. the change in him was abrupt, a sharp contrast showing how fast things changed within him. How fast the 'good' can leave him.
She smiled...She blushed... Perhaps I shouldn't have asked.... No, it was good I did so. That wasn't a brother blush. Sesshoumaru thought, this 'Jared' was important to her, and Sesshoumaru wasn't foolish enough to think innocently that it was a sibling, or even a cousin. No, that blush... That blush was something else.
The other thing was forgotten about. The one about 'other body parts she could touch' yeah... That was long gone from his mind now.
There is another. She's thought of someone else. It's not as pleasant, so it is not important. Sesshoumaru thought looking to her.
"This... 'Jared' he is important to you?! Why did he allow you to be sent off like this?" Sesshoumaru asked getting cold, and stoic again. The thought of being around a woman that was someone else's turned his stomach a bit. He wouldn't reduce himself to that. Not even for her.

The feel of cold air whipped Zoe back to life, watching the demon lord backing away from her as if she had burnt him intentionally. The look on his face was pure disbelief, something where Zoe had to rethink what she said or did. Was it the feel of her hands on his chest enough to send him backing off like she was some flies? No, it was something else.
Then, she realized it. The mere thought of her dearest friend, Jared, had her blushing. It was a damnable habit of hers which is why so many were confused as whether or not they were lovers or just friends. No, it was more than that. It was more of a relationship that had no name where they simply shared a bond. If she had Jared’s face, they would have been twins if they could be. Yet, such a case was unlikely. She idolized him, she liked him and he felt the same way with her; though they could not see each other as merely lovers.
With both hands left abandoned in front of her, she lowered them to her sides with her innocent eyes blinking. She frowned slightly, not liking that she was being interrogated by him. “I’d be lying if I said he wasn’t.” She released a sigh; not another talk like this. She heard of this many times before. “Because it was my parents’ decision and it is not in his best interest to disobey my mother’s decision.” Lifting her chin just slightly, she crossed her arms over her chest, “he and I grew up together; so naturally, we’d be close.”
Expressing a light chuckle, she tore her gaze from the demon lord toward a nearby wall, "you know, you somewhat remind me of him."
Hold it. Why am I telling him this?
“If you’re thinking that I’m his potential mate or something, forget it,” she said, looking at her nails casually, seemingly undisturbed by the idea, “though, it could be possible.” She shrugged.

That did not help her case any. If she thought it did, she was wrong. So seriously wrong. Too bad too.. She had been doing so well... But now Sesshoumaru watched her, and her behavior and mannerisms didn't convince him. If anyone wondered how easily this man could turn off his heart they only had to watch something like this.
Although his demonic side was screaming at him to fight, to keep 'wooing' her so to speak. He did not. He watched her, studied her, and did not like what he saw. Growing up together... Close... Perhaps she was lying to herself... Or perhaps the 'Jared' character was a lower class or something that did not allow her to mate him. Either way her explanations had not helped her case.
As he watched her and she spoke again his eyes got seemingly duller. The 'though it could be possible' put the final nail in the coffin and made him turn from her. While all their 'talking' had been happening the servants had moved some of the female feeder rabbits into a new breeding pen and had moved a few of the male breeders into the feeding pens to fatten them up. Sesshoumaru saw this, but didn't pay much attention to it. The coldness seemed to return in waves. Quicker and colder with each wave.
He didn't need to say anything else to her. He had said to much already. Already he was starting to feel idiotic and stupid for talking as much as he had. Silly ideas... Only led to pain in the end.... As if his life so far hadn't taught him enough. He killed... he didn't love... What was the matter with him thinking otherwise... One pretty face and he was flirting... No... it could not be like that.
"My Lord... The cook is asking if you wish for him to start preparations for dinner." Asked one of the kitchen servants bowing as Sesshoumaru walked back into the castle through the back doors, that where indeed close to the kitchens.
"Start them for everyone else. But tell him I will not eat." Sesshoumaru said colder than ever knowing he had to start holding back on that now. That was another thing... How dare he think he could start something knowing what he knew about what would happen to him.
The servant bowed and walked into the kitchen looking sad at the lord's answer. Sesshoumaru saw it but could not do a thing about it. He simply kept walking.

Standing still with both arms crossed, Zoe watched the demon lord walked away, not having said a word whatsoever. There was a drastic change in his behavior, something which she hadn’t expected or even dream of. Not that she wished for it, but never thought that having such a relationship with Jared would cause this dramatic transformation. How is it possible that one can go from curious to flirting and suddenly become so excruciatingly cold and dead?
Yes, he looked dead right there on the spot.
And Zoe had a sinking thought that it was her fault. It had always been her fault. Everything was her fault. The word fault was something Zoe did not appreciate. It was a word that her mother often used on her; that it was her fault this happened, that it was her fault that happened and for so many reasons, it was her fault, still.
No, it was the best that this happened. Both hands tightened their grip, neatly folded in her arms as Zoe turned away from the walking figure of a demon lord. She felt a prickle inside her chest, which she did not appreciate for. This should have not happened. She was in a past, in another dimension and in another planet. It couldn’t be done and should not be done either. After all, she is only here for a year and must return home when the space transporter arrives.
He is not someone who will hunt another person down for companionship.
It was clear. He wouldn’t want anything for him from another person. No matter what, he will not do it. And like the demon lord, she did not feel hungry either. How can such incident as this affect her so? It shouldn’t and couldn’t. Standing in the middle of the hallway, she stood there, dumbfounded by something.
Why do I feel water down my cheek?
“Urrgh!” She growled lightly, aggressively wiping the single tear off her cheek, thankful that her back was to the retreating lord.

He smelled the salt of her tears. But she was not coming after him. Perhaps she had realized something. What ever it was it was not good for him. If that Jared person meant nothing serious then why was she not coming to explain it further. From everything she had done before he knew she would have. If it was nothing. She loved nothing more than correcting him.
He was in such deep thought he didn't even see them coming, his captain of the guard and his 'lovely' daughter. Lovely single daughter who his captain loved to parade around Lord Sesshoumaru. Innocently of course, so he said. Sesshoumaru knew better. But the girl always behaved and she knew better than to try anything unless the Lord showed he was interested...Which would never happen.
"My lord. It is good I found you at last. Some of the guards have come back without news of the person my lord. But others are still out. We will catch the person yet my lord." The captain said bowing.
Sesshoumaru snapped out of his thoughts and looked to the captain, getting his mind back into that problem. "Tell me when you do." He said and looked to the girl. She was beautiful of course. A full silver inu demoness, with all the beauty that entailed. But Sesshoumaru knew it entailed a lot of weakness too. He didn't feel like putting up with multiple dead pups to get one good one. He couldn't help the look to her though. The girl looked to the lord, giggled, and lowered her head.
Sesshoumaru just took a simple breath at all that. "I heard your daughter was getting more suitors. Please remember to be careful with who comes into the castle." Sesshoumaru said walking away again. Back to his office to try and loose himself in paperwork.
The captain nodded and bowed. "Of course my lord." He said and looked to the lady in the hallway too. The captain had to raise an eyebrow. What had happened between them? One minute the servants where giggling because their lord seemed to be finally happy with a woman and the next the mood in the castle got darker than before.
The captain's daughter looked to the lady as well. If she could have ever had the lord flirting with her, you can bet she wouldn't have let him go for anything. The daughter looked to the father, and they both looked at the back of their Lord, and then to the lady.
"I don't think we'll be as lucky as we thought father...Maybe she's not the one after all..." The daughter said trying to keep it to a low tone, shaking her head sounding sad.
"Perhaps not daughter. She seemed perfect for him though... But let's keep praying that someone can be good enough to bring our lord out of his loneliness... We can only hope...Lord InuTaishio must be rolling over in his grave..." The captain said shaking his head and walking away with his daughter sighing sadly again.
Sesshoumaru hadn't heard any of it. He was already back in office. Already telling his body it wouldn't be eating tonight, so not to even bother grumbling or anything. He got out a mountain of paperwork and got set to work on it. Trying to keep his mind off Zoe, or Jared, or anything.

Standing, left abandoned in the middle of a hallway, Zoe had not bothered chase after the demon lord to elucidate or even rectify the situation. Rather, she was grilled to the spot, shoulders stiffened by the throes of thoughts. Deep contemplation confused, baffled and frightened her. She wasn’t sure what to make of the situation or what she should do next.
She was never like this before.
It was usually her, the very woman who made the decision and move on and not think too much of it. And yet, here she is, in puddle of profound deliberation which only served to heighten her dilemma. She only had a year left to be on this planet. What else can she do about it? Is there a way around it? There were many things she wanted to explore and to extend year one to many. She understood the risk of it and that this particular planet was the prime spot for bloodstones, which of the many top prized one were the Oniishi. The very item which the Makai avoid at all cost.
So what?
A sharp glance over her shoulder, she spotted a captain with his daughter. She saw them before, milling about in the castle during their free time. She heard them converse alone after she managed to pull herself out of her misery. They thought her suitable for Sesshoumaru? She wasn’t sure if she was and the only way to find out was to keep up the interaction and just continue learning more about him to see where all this leads to. With a slight lift of her chin, she marched right back down the hall to rectify the situation.
It was becoming easier to find the office; she was a quick learner and could recall visually as well. And as typical of her, she did not bother to knock and slid the door open with a determined look on her face. “Sesshoumaru, Jared and I…oof!” With arms flailing in the air, she found herself right on the ground in the center of the office.
Ugh. How embarrassing this is!
Slamming both hands on the ground, she lifted herself off the ground and onto her knee with a slightly embarrassed look. Yet, that very expression was wiped off when she stared at the demon lord square in the eyes, “Jared and I have a bond; perhaps similar to that of a twin. We can’t really see ourselves as potential mates.” She waved a hand in front of her with a slight grimace. Okay, the fall did hurt. Not even bothering to stand, she decided to seat herself on the ground with one leg propped up, the other lying down and under her propped leg. Resting an elbow against her lifted knee, she released a sigh, “I’m sorry.”
Okay, it really did hurt. Frowning slightly, she looked at what’s below her and realized the floor is covered in old scrolls. No wonder it hurt! Her poor left cheek was probably inflamed by now and even her forehead was throbbing with dull pain. “Ugh,” she lifted a hand to sooth away those pain as much as she can. “Jeez, you and your heap of mess in this room, it’s hazardous!” She hadn’t meant to act like this, though she decided to move in one direction to see where it takes her, ignoring her one year forced contract.

He smelled her coming a mile away. But he truly truly had not thought she would come into his office. The very place where he was. He thought her perhaps lost, or passing by on her way to somewhere else. Of course part of his mind hoped she would. Though the other part didn't know why... Why would he hope that? After what happened... Wasn't it enough misery for one day.
Then she did it. She barged right in making him roll his eyes and just flop into his huge chair a bit with a curious but cold elegantly raised eyebrow as he watched her open her mouth then loose her footing. Right into a pile of scrolls he had to send off or put away. Neither of which he had done. Bad habit really... He was allowed one, from his number of other perfections. At least in his mind he thought so, and really try telling him otherwise and everyone would wish you luck.
He almost wanted to wince for her, his demon was almost rushing up to help her. But he controlled that urge. The other part of him wanted to crack up, just truly laugh out loud because this woman seemed to just have a knack for making his mind go elsewhere when it seemed to be at the worst place. Until now only Rin seemed to do that. He watched her, listened to her. Against all his control he could feel that bit of hope raise up again, that part in everyone that always wished for family, love. That part which he had long ago controlled and thought extinguished but now 'she' was bringing back to life.
"You do not need to apologize Lady Zoe. Your relations with other men should not bother me. I am nothing to you, and you are nothing to me." Sesshoumaru said trying to sound unemotional, and like he truly didn't care, when it was plain to see he did. "It was a bit foolish to think a woman like you would not be asked for in the first place." He said and then raised an eyebrow again.
No one mentioned it...They might think it, but no one mentioned it out loud. "For your information Lady Zoe my office is perfectly fine, I know where everything is, and I have never had a problem." He said with a bit of a silent 'hmpht!' at the end. How dare she say that his office was hazardous. It was not a hazard. He never had a problem. So fine, his servants tried not to come in further than the door. But it was out of respect... Yes, that's what it was. Respect! It was his personal space after all.

Supporting the majority of her weight on one hand firmly placed on the ground, or rather, in piles of scroll, Zoe continued to rub the red marks found on her forehead and her left cheek. The place was a hazard, really. It was not surprising that Zoe instinctively decided not to stand up or risk falling down again. How embarrassing it was for her to fall just when she had that determined look on her face? Not to mention, with her arms floundering about like some broken birds struggling to fly?
Her head perked at the sound of Sesshoumaru’s voice. Not even convinced in the least bit, she smartly looked up and stared at him square in the face, despite how tall the table was, she was still able to get a good view of him. “Big fat liar,” she bluntly replied, though she did admit one thing. There were more than one suitor coming to knock her door; in which, she and Jared successfully worked together to ward them off. She had known that he knew she wasn’t interested and didn’t like seeing her being hassled unnecessarily. Why else would he help her? They were like twins if they could be; having such a bond together. “Eh, now you believe me?”
Stifling a small laugh, though not at him intentionally, “Jared only acted the part as a potential mate to ward off others…how amusing it was.” She was obviously pleased with the result so far, until now. She hadn’t wanted to ward him off. Instead, she wanted him to come get her before anyone else could. Then again, he probably wouldn’t. He wasn’t quite the type for that.
With a hand lifted, she pointed at herself, “well, I suffered a fall because of…” She pointed blatantly at the piles of scrolls on the floor, “….that!” She stared at the scrolls with a slight grimace and wouldn’t be surprised if anyone rarely comes into the room because of that. “Hmm…I wouldn’t be surprised if no one comes here.” Out of the blue, she decided to turn the situation around as she bravely stood with careful footings.
Having managed to venture as far as to stand in front of the table where the demon lord sat, she slammed both hands on the table with a determined look on her face, “don’t think I’ll back out now.” If he wasn’t going to get her, she might as well get him first. It was her final decision, especially when she chose to ignore the whole one year contract and having a mission to do something.

"You suffered a fall because you have the habit to do so. You also have a habit of not looking down when you walk." Sesshoumaru said calmly looking to her. "And it is of course no one come in here, it is my personal office after all. Do not think I let just anyone in here, thought the way you barge in everywhere you'd think it was your castle." Sesshoumaru said calmly still looking at her. He hadn't really understood the 'liar' comment. He wasn't lying, she was the lying one. She was the one that resorted to fake suitors apparently.
What was he supposed to think when he didn't have the chance to meet this... this... Jared person. He had no way to prove if she was lying or telling the truth about that. About their relationship. He couldn't help it if he was a distrusting man.
She is not going to back out? Back out of what? This? The office? Or pursuing me? That wouldn't really be unique. He thought watching her, as a small smirk appeared on his face. Lots of women pursued him, but none could ever catch him. Of course Zoe might be different.
"What will you do Lady Zoe....Court me? Because I assure you here it's supposed to be the male that does the courting." He said to her. "I do not know how they do it where you come from of course." he said as he realized he felt strangely relieved. Why should he feel relief? Relief about what? The fact that she was coming after him to get him. Shouldn't that make him worried?! Because it wasn't. It was making him smirk a bit, and he didn't realize he was doing it.

Leaning most of her weight through her hands pressed against the table, Zoe continued to stare at the demon lord who, out of the blue, smirked at her declaration in courting him. It was then she rethought her behavior; is it that odd for women to court men instead? Maybe so for this era, though back home, men actually appreciated women pursuing them at a limit and of course, such situation can easily be turned around.
With the slight turn of her head, she pursed her lips thoughtfully, “well, it’s either way, really. Women pursue men, or it’s men pursuing women.” Straightening her back away from the table, she planted both fists on her hip with and frowned, “what? So, I can’t court you?” She scratched the back of her head, seemingly thinking more deeply about her action, “I suppose there’s nothing to do about it, eh?”
Really, the woman was unpredictable.
One minute, she declares her decisions, the next, she rethinks it, or even within the next minutes, she goes right back to declaring her behavior. On a second thought, if she were to court him; then how is she going to go about it? What is it that women do around here? If it’s really men courting women, then how do they court them instead? Flowers? No, she couldn’t very well give Sesshoumaru flowers. It wasn’t right. Do women really sit around and wait for men to court them? What a waste of time; she knew women were quite a bit…expecting here in this era. They will sit and do nothing and expect something in return.
“How do people like you court here?” She inquired curiously with innocent look in her eyes. Bracing both hands behind the small of her back, she stood still in the middle of the office once again, having taken a step or two away from the table. Remarkably, she hadn’t fallen during her backward trek.

"It would be highly unorthodox for a Lady to court a Lord. But I suppose this being you I shouldn't see it as that." Sesshoumaru said chuckling mentally. He got up calmly and went over to a chair. His visitor chairs where big like the one behind his desk, though the one behind his desk had soft furs all over it making it very comfortable to sit in, since he was sitting on it long times, it was best that way. He got the jumble of scrolls from one of the chairs and moved them to one of the shelves that lined one of the walls. It was amusing that some of the shelves where actually a bare. While the floor was a mess.
"There sit, before you take to falling to the floor again." Sesshoumaru said going over and sitting back down in his chair. "As for how we court, it is simple really. A male after making sure the female he is interested in is free, would go to the female and her family, he would state his intentions clearly. After which the family of the female would test him. The male would have to prove that he is capable of providing for a family, as well as capable of protecting a female and pups. That will be specially needed when the female is expecting, since she will not be capable of doing much except lay in bed eating." He explained calmly watching her, she was still thinking about things, he had to wonder if she was serious about this. He had no idea how her people did any of it. He had some hypothesis. But not many sure ones.
"The woman's role in the courting is at first to let the male know she is interested in him as well. Though subtly of course. After that her only job is to test him. All this becomes a bit useless with you. I do not know much about your people, and it is my understanding that the only people who have such weak females during pregnancy is the silver Inu; Since you are capable of protecting yourself, and you already know I am fully capable of protecting you even if you could not fight. I do not see that we have to test each other at all. Though that leaves the simple fact of whether we could stand to live with each other." Sesshoumaru said looking to her with a small smirk again. "You do realize you will get many courtiers here. A woman like you will be interesting to a lot of powerful Lords and such here. You will have to decide how you want to deal with that as well. i will not keep them from you unless you wish me too. If I do protect you from them the news will travel that you are mine." Sesshoumaru said just watching more intently now to see what she said to that.

Well, excuse me for being different from other women!
There was a tempting tale-tell sign of a vein readied to pop on her head out of annoyance, borderline to anger. It was a fact that Zoe behaved differently from other women, it was also a fact that she could defend for herself and not to mention, she wanted to take up the position of a leader among her kind one day; not a normal feat one would expect in a women during this era, she supposed. The sight of the western demon lord up from his seat and around his table, she watched him removed the mayhem of scrolls from one of the large visitor’s chair into one of the empty shelves.
Wait a minute.
Those shelves are literally empty! How in the world is this Sesshoumaru not going to take advantage of using those shelves for more storage?! Really, the man was just pure…oddity, to say the least! Strangely enough, Zoe wanted to laugh at his quirk and realized how cute it was. Him, a demon lord having a cute habit or traits? Yes, there was also his habit of saying This Sesshoumaru which she found peculiar at the start. Nevertheless, she took the chance to sit down on the chair where he cleaned up his mess from, angling her side of the hip to the left and moving her upper part of the body to the right comfortably, resting her cheek against her hand which rested on the arm of the chair. She hadn’t thought to sit like a well-mannered lady of her title, though she did subconsciously crossed her ankles gently.
It was clear that while Zoe may easily be provoked by other people’s opinion of her, she nevertheless, makes no effort for her way of lifestyle if it served no benefits or sees no true value in it. She is her own person and that’s just the way she sees it. Listening to Sesshoumaru’s explanation on how people court in this era, it was interesting to Zoe as she half-expected to hear something gruesome and outrageous. Quite interestingly enough, the way they courted were, in fact, similar to how people dated back home.
Ah…my kind have no problem with pregnancy…
She frowned slightly at the thought of how weak the inu females were during their pregnancy and the high chance of losing a child. How different it was from her kind. “My kind, women have high chance of birthing a child.” She explained calmly, though it was clear she was enjoying learning something new, “in fact, during the pregnancy months, women become stronger, enabling them to protect themselves and their unborn child.” That isn’t the only thing, though it doesn’t render the males useless. Just by having the males by their side increases the chance of protection and having a child in the near future.
At the thought of having courtiers coming for her was enough to send Zoe’s hair into fray. Instinctively and without thinking too much of it, she wished she somehow managed to drag Jared with her. He would have helped her keep the potential mates away from her at all cost. In fact, he always found joy in messing with them. “Oh brother…” Covering half of her face using the hand she rested her cheek in, she closed her eyes momentarily. Perhaps it wouldn’t be a bad thing; after all, she could use those courtiers as her toys to practice her skills on.
That is, until Sesshoumaru spoke once more.
Opening one eye, she glanced at him, noticing that he was analyzing her again. She recognized the look as she had done it many times on others and even found Jared doing the same thing. She hadn’t said a word for a few seconds. Silence ensnared and ensued for more than a minute. Until, finally, did Zoe throw her hands up and just braced then together over her crossed knees, her back straightened with a grin, “that’s fine by me!”
