SESSHOUMARU SAMA
Age: 423+[/size]
Gender: Male
Species: Dai youkai
Subspecies: Silver Inugami
Occupation: Lord of the Western Lands
Alliance: Arashimeru
Choice of Weapon(s):
---Tetsusaiga: When he was able to get a hold of it, he was actually quite adept at using Tetsusaiga.
---Tenssaiga: Gives life and healing to the weak
---The Whip: Aside from using his claws for executing poisonous attacks, he's also able to make some sort of a whiplash look-alike thing come out of his fingers. It's basically some greenish white swirl that looks and works like a whip as you see in the picture. I'm not sure how it comes out (it just does) but he appears to control it with his two forefingers and doesn't seem to take much effort on his part in executing it.
In general, however, this method is often useful for attacking from afar as it's able to stretch very long. Utilizing it to fight against multiple enemies can also be effective as was seen at the very beginning when we were first introduced to Sesshoumaru's character. Being surrounded by a pack of wolves, he executed an attack with the whip although it appeared to be a little more elaborate than usual. He began by twirling and spinning his body while using some hand movements which sent out what looked like a bunch of green blades. These "blades" then literally sliced and shredded all the wolves around him into pieces. The battle was over way before it began.
---Bakusaiga: It is not an heirloom or crafted sword but is created from Sesshomaru's own body as a manifestation of his own demonic power, and thus truly his own. His success in abandoning his interest in stealing Tetsuseiga as a quick path to power resulted in the development of his own inner strength, in the end surpassing even that of his father. It's abilities are two fold. First it's got
Decomposition-- Bakusaiga appears to manifest a form of corrosive wave attack, an interesting manifestation of Sesshomaru's own power of corrosive poisoning as a sword attack. If any demon absorbs parts of a demon attacked with this, that demon would also start suffering from it. If there are any significant limits to the effects of the corrosive power they are not known - even the fully transformed body of Naraku was unable to stop or quench the effect and only avoided it by abandoning pieces to destruction. Only the Shikon no Tama itself withstood any Bakusaiga attack, and it appeared to be immune to essentially all demonic attacks of any nature.
It's second ability is a "Destructive Wave" The Bakusaiga's destructive wave is seen only once in Chapter 523 when Sesshoumaru easily dispatches thousands of demons pitted against him to delay his arrival at another battle. If there is an upper limit to the strength of this wave it is not known.
Battle Specialties & Flaws: When engaged in battle, Sesshoumaru is always cool and calm. His thoughts are collected even during difficulties, and his body moves as though it requires no effort on his part. His maneuvers almost seem to be a part of his instinctual reflex especially since you never see him hesitate or fret about which move to make. Moreover, he rarely shows any emotions while fighting, and he's unfazed even when hit. Reading someone's reactions in a battle can often help a fighter analyze the opponent's moves and in this sense, it makes Sesshoumaru an even more difficult opponent to anticipate.
Regardless of what he may be doing or looking at, Sesshoumaru always seems to know what's happening around him. He's extremely observant of his surroundings and reacts very quickly to respond to them- it's as though nothing ever surprises him.
Because Sesshoumaru always have full control and use of his body, this tends to put him at a far advantage in a battle. His speed is incredible and he dodges attacks so easily it's like second nature to him. He's capable of moving faster than the eye can see and this often takes his enemies by surprise. In one blink of an eye, he can be in an entirely different point of space from a moment ago. Giving his speed even more advantage is his capability to control his body by levitating himself and maneuvering mid-air with the same kind of grace. From mid-air, he can continue to attack while making it difficult for his opponents to reach him.
He utilizes his speed to gracefully move out of the attacks (while sometimes looking dispassionate or even bored) until he either feels like fighting back or he sees an opportunity for him to execute an attack that would completely smack his opponent down.
Truly there are very few flaws to him in battle. Save for the fact that his pride would not let him back down even if the opponent is more powerful than himself. Like in the case with Magatsuhi, where he was very much near defeat if Bakusaiga hadn't appeared. Add to this the fact that if the enemy is smart or knowledgable enough he/she could anger Sesshoumaru enough into making him show emotion. Which 'although' is not a very big problem, is still a problem for him.
Physical Appearance:He has super long about almost knee-length silver/ivory-whitish colored hair with beautiful amberish golden/yellow eyes. He can also be easily recognized by the markings on this face: a Prussian blue crescent moon, the two magenta stripes on each side of his cheeks, and the red markings on this eyelids. On his wrists are matching magenta stripes to the ones that are on his face. He also has pointy elvish look-alike ears and sharp fingernails that are almost like claws. His clothing is at best described as some sort of "kimono-ish" looking thing with an armor that slings on his left shoulder while a huge, white the furry thing wraps around his right shoulder, is part of him, and does become part of his fur when he is in proper demon form.
In his dog form, he retains the Prussian blue crescent moon on his forehead though the stripes on his cheeks merges and "wraps" around the edge of his jaw. His eyes go red and his ears become very flappy. His fur is white just like his hair though there are areas that look a bit gray. If you look at his form carefully, you'll notice that there's actually also an extra piece of fur that wraps around his right shoulder and then around his body. That's the boa-look-alike thingy around his right shoulder in his human form. It's obviously bigger and more unruly which makes them look like white flames. He also has matching white "flames" around each of his paws.
After he transforms, everyone else is basically only about the size of his paws. Even though he's already really big, he's actually believed to still be only a puppy.
Overall Personality: At first glance, he appears to be cold, calm, collected, and confident to the point of almost arrogant. He has also been mentioned by Jaken as someone who's a very proud person and no matter what it may look like on the outside, he'd actually be seething inside if he were to ever be made a fool of. He's quite a mystery as you're never sure of what to expect from him. He may appear cold-hearted but his actions sometimes raises the question as to whether he really is that emotionless. Though he'll usualy have a proper excuse for his actions. He seems to be a man with few words...and when he does talk, there is no such thing as beating around the bush. He gets right to the point..blunt and clear. Sometimes, he may appear to seem sarcastic in his word choice especially when talking to Inuyasha.
When you first meet him all he inspires from you is gradiour, then fright. He can be scary if he puts his mind to it, hell he's scary even when he doesn't. He always speaks his mind, and doesn't care about consequences or who's feelings it hurts. Not only is he straight with words, but he's also not one to hide behind anyone or send minions to do his dirty work. In fact, he's not one to do what you would call "sneaky" things or resort to "dirty" tactics at all- unlike, say Naraku.
As a prince and now a Lord he's used to getting what he wants. Which makes him a bit spoiled. But he also has great hurt, which he hides. It's not easy for someone to see the feelings he hides, you have to be with him a long time to see the subtle changes in his face. As he always keep that emotionless mask on this will not be easy. He shows great ego, but he has done great growth as well. He no longer has envy for his half-brother over his father's swords. He's shown more maturity and greater power that comes with current age. He has surpassed his father, he knows this. When looking at him, his whole being exudes a powerful aura and he carries himself as though he is above it all.
History: Sesshoumaru is Inuyasha's half-brother. That is, they have the same all-powerful demon father, but Sesshoumaru has a demon mother, whereas Inuyasha has a human mother.
Sesshoumaru is the first born son and heir to Inu-no-Taishio. As such he has been raised with certain responsibilities and duties. With his mother gone since he was but a tiny baby and his father away on duties of the lands. When he was weaned from milk a horrible problem arose. Healers where called from far and wide to the castle of the Lord Touga. The young heir was deathly ill, and none knew what was wrong. Finally only one healer came up that knew what was wrong with the young demon. The healer spoke of a rare thing and gave the young lord a strange black liquid for the young prince to drink. Sesshoumaru drank it and soon he was well once more. But the healer warned the young Lord not to feed the newborn prince anything other than fresh unpolluted rabbit meat.
In addition to that Sesshoumaru was forced to grow up alone, with only his trainers for company. Not that they where much company for his trainers where old and more importantly very very old fashioned demons. Who thought that strict learning and discipline were the only way to raise a prince properly.
From the time he was 10 his training started. The mornings would be spent learning the history of the lands and their lords. The afternoons would go to battle training.
Sesshoumaru started behaving just like his mother, much to the dismay of his father and the servants of the castle. Of course Sesshoumaru had no idea that the traits he was now showing were that of his mother.
Through out the rest of his young life Sesshoumaru kept training and studying keeping himself apart from his father and everyone else that would show love for him. All he would do is look for power, in this manner he killed hundreds if not thousands of demons making himself more and more powerful. Until soon all feared his name, all ran when he came near; and when he finally came back home he found a big surprise.
He had heard the news that his father had taken a mate though none would tell him what that mate was. Finally arriving at his old home Sesshoumaru almost lost control of his demon when he came through the doors and found his father kissing a human. At once the sword he was holding fell to the ground and a deep demonic growl erupted through out the room making the castle walls shake in it’s wake. His father looked at him and told him to calm himself, told him to understand. It was no use. He would not understand. All he understood was that his father had lowered himself and had mated a weak, pathetic, disgusting human pregnant dog. Of course the real problem came when he saw the pregnant dog’s round belly, at once he growled once more at his father.
“Was it not enough that you defiled our name and honor by f**king a human pregnant dog, you also pupped her! Tell me, were you thinking with you brain or your genitals father?!” He screamed at his father. Of course that exclamation earned him a slap and almost ended in a battle between the two dogs. This seemed to be a regular occurrence from that day forward, and it only got worse once his half brother was born.
His father would tell him to be patient, to love his brother. You share the same blood he would tell him. All that talk would go in one ear and out the other. All Sesshoumaru knew was that the half breed was a pain that had to disappear.
That fight with his father that day marked the end of his heart. He stopped caring all together for half breeds, humans and such. More heartbroken than anything else about the thought that his father could choose them over his own full blooded heir. Choose them enough to give his life for them. Anyone intelligent enough could see it all play out in his eyes. But his own father could not.
Maybe it was just Kami and fate that made him go through so much in so young a life. But after he left things did start to get better. Now he's more powerful and controlled than he had ever been before. He continues his rounds of protecting his lands and trying to get stronger.
It was only much later that Sesshoumaru discovered the whereabouts of Tetsaiga, an almighty sword forged from the fang of their deceased father. Sesshoumaru knows it is in their father's tomb (aka body, mind you their father's about 50-100 feet tall), but he can't get there and knows Inuyasha was left with the key to their father's tomb. Inuyasha's like wtf, but Sesshoumaru extracts an orb from Inuyasha's eye, blinding his one eye. In pain and confused, Inuyasha hates himself for being weaker than his older brother and regrets his human side, which he thinks makes him weak. They get there and they get the sword. There are 2 swords- Tetsaiga, destined for Inuyasha, and the Tenssaiga, destined for Sesshoumaru. The Tetsaiga takes life in the name of humanity, the Tenssaiga gives life and healing to the weak . . .
The Two Brothers Clash. Sesshoumaru is pissed-as-all-hell by now. He can't hold the Tetsaiga, because he cannot love a human . . . Inuyasha's love for humans is what allows him to draw it. His father's love for his human mother is what made him create the Tetsaiga, and what made him entrust it to Inuyasha, so he would protect other humans with it. He granted Sesshoumaru a healing sword so that he would change his ways and also have no way of hurting people. Sesshoumaru has his arm cut off by Inuyasha in this battle.
Latter and has a human arm replaced with it so he could hold the sword and "teach" Inuyasha how to use it properly (by killing 100 demons with one stroke). In the end it's Inuyasha with the Tetsaiga. and Sesshoumaru with the Tenssaiga.
After yet another battle with Inuyasha about Tetsaiga, Sesshoumaru is heavily injured, Tenssaiga saves his life and transported him into a forest. He lays himself down underneath the shade of a tree, regretting being injured and feeling useless. A young human girl (maybe around 6 or 7) passes by and notices him. She stops in shock and can't take her eyes off of him, she is so intrigued by him and so curious. He is after all a magical looking creature, with his flowing white and red robes and his long silver hair and yellow eyes and ok I'll stop^^;; So, everyday she comes to him and brings him food, water, and such. He can't understand why she is doing this for him, and he begins to feel something that he's never felt before . . . he tells her to stop, but she just smiles at him innocently and laughs- nothing can keep her from this treasure of hers, this mystery that she found. She comes to him on day all bruised. He looks at her and asks her who did that to her. She never answers him but smiles all happy that he cared enough to ask. Later she leaves and he gets better and leaves as well. It is not said how much time passed but it had to be at least a day. Sesshoumaru and Jaken walk through the woods and then Sesshoumaru stops when he smells the blood of a human that smells familiar to him. He walks into the forest and sees Rin lying on the ground in front of him slashed, gorged, ripped up, her mouth hanging open, frozen in the scream she made as the wolf demons had torn her apart. Jaken laughs and says 'What a useless, worthless creature' . . . Sesshoumaru (driven by the sword) draws the Tenssaiga and uses it to revive her. Although he says he did it to test Tenssaiga. Jaken gasps in horror, wondering what possessed his master. Sesshoumaru holds the grateful girl in his arms, saying, 'This sword ... it has made me feel compassion, it drew me to save the life of a human...why...'
From that day on Rin travels with Sesshoumaru and Jaken, all over. As of resent he's shown that he no longer wishes to kill his little brother, although he keep saying he does. Maybe it's because he finally realizes after all his battles with Inuyasha that the hanyou is worthy of his father's demon blood. Now he just has to train his little brother, and the only way to do that is to keep Inuyasha believing that he still wants to kill him.
In one instance where Inuyasha was in his full out of control demon form, Sesshoumaru came to supposedly investigate if he really was a full demon; but ended up stopping Inu's rampage when he realized he would kill himself in that state of mind. After Inuyasha was knocked out, Kagome ran to the hanyou's fallen form, while Miroku ran over and asked him why he hadn't killed Inuyasha when he clearly had the chance too. Sesshoumaru has to think about what to say, but finally says "I will slay Inuyasha, eventually, but what would be the point now, he doesn't even know who he is." Sesshomaru then walks away. Kagome is left thinking about the fact that maybe Sesshoumaru likes Inuyasha more than he shows.
After shattering the Tokijin in combat with Mouryoumaru (Manga Chapter 407) and passing Tenseiga's only offensive technique Meidou Zangetsuha to InuYasha's Tetsusaiga (Manga Chapter 503) Sesshomaru is left without a fighting weapon beyond his own native abilities. While very few demons stand a realistic chance even against an unarmed Sesshomaru, the growing darkness in the Shikon no Tama allows a demon called Magatsuhi to escape from the jewel itself. Freed, Magatsuhi assembles a body from parts of Naraku and seeks out Sesshomaru in order to steal the last shard of the jewel from Kohaku, who is traveling with Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru accepts the challenge of battle but discovers Magatsuhi boasts a poison stronger than his own and sufficient strength to physically damage his remaining arm. The fight is interrupted by the arrival of InuYasha, who comes to his aid. Sesshomaru, angered by the implication of weakness inherent in the help and pity he receives from both his own followers and Inuyasha's group, manifests a powerful regenerative ability of his own and closes his wounds. The battle is again joined, and the use of Tenseiga against the otherworldly spirit of Magatsuhi offers hope of victory, but Sesshomaru is overmatched physically before he can deliver a fatal blow and is stabbed straight through his armor and chest by Magatsuhi, who contemptuously denounces his weakness. Before any aid can reach him, he is engulfed by a mass of demonic flesh controlled by Magatsuhi. InuYasha makes a desperate attempt to free him but only gets caught in the engulfing mass himself.
At this point, all parties are shocked to see the demonic mass blown apart by a massive burst of demonic power. The light is so blinding it takes several seconds for the group to see the light is in fact coming from the stump of Sesshomaru severed arm. Sesshomaru, angry and very much alive, drives back Magatsuhi's probes. At this moment the sword smith Totosai appears. Sesshomaru, seeing him and realizing in that instant what is happening, meets a massive thrust by Magatsuhi with an even more powerful wave of light - in that instant, within the light his arm regenerates and along with it a sword appears in the new hand.
Magatsuhi attempts to reassemble his body but discovers the hard way that pieces of his body attacked by the new sword transmit the blow they have received to undamaged parts - his body is destroyed attempting to reform.
In the course of the final stages of the battle Totosai reveals that the new sword is called Bakusaiga. It is not an heirloom or crafted sword but is created from Sesshomaru's own body as a manifestation of his own demonic power, and thus truly his own. His success in abandoning his interest in stealing Tetsuseiga as a quick path to power resulted in the development of his own inner strength, in the end surpassing even that of his father.
Sesshomaru uses Bakusaiga for the rest of the battle for both Naraku and Magatsuhi. During the Final Battle against Naraku the Bakusaiga is used to destroy most of Naraku's body. While the others fought inside Naraku's giant spider body. Though Naraku was using the threat of his huge body falling on Kaede's Village, Sesshoumaru did not care and kept attacking the body. In the final chapter set three years after Naraku's defeat the Bakusaiga is still carried by Sesshomaru when he came to visit Rin who is now living with Kaede and studying the healing arts.
